2022 SNEAKER RELEASE RECAP: HIGHLIGHTS

For the launch of the Sneakers News Feed, we wanted to recap on what we believe are some of HOTTEST releases of the year... so far.

Nike Kobe 6 Protro "Mambacita Sweet 16" Retail $180 | Resell $1000+

The Nike Kobe 6 Protro Mabacita 'Sweet 16' released on May 1st, 2022. The Nike Kobe 6 Protro Mabacita Sweet 16 pays tribute to the late Gigi Bryant who's birthday is May 1st, and the Mamba & Mambacita Sports Foundation. The Mabacita 'Sweet 16' features a black 'mamba' inspired upper as a tribute to Kobe’s Black Mamba nickname. Gigi’s AAU basketball jersey #2 perfectly placed on both sides of the ankle.

With there being a shortage on Kobe's, fans were desperate to get their hands on a pair to no avail, making these one of the highest reselling Kobe's in recent memory. The Nike Kobe 6 Protro Mabacita Sweet 16 released via Exclusive Access on SNKRS and via Draw. Are these better than the Grinch Kobe's?

Travis Scott x Air Jordan 1 Low "Reverse Mocha" Retail $190 | Resell $1000+

The Air Jordan 1 Low Travis Scott Reverse Mocha released in July of 2022 and retailed for $190. Paying homage to the Travis AJ1 Mocha in the color scheme, these Travis Scotts relit the Cactus Jack brand after a short hiatus.

With the usual hit or miss release windows, these limited 1 lows came out the gate reselling for around $1500 a pair. Are these HEAT or HYPE? Where do you rank them on the all time Travis Scott release list?

Air Jordan 1 "Taxi/Yellow Toe" Retail $180 | Resell $200

The newest release on the list, the Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG ‘Yellow Toe’ also known as ‘Taxi’ are not to be slept on! They bring back the distinctive color blocking of the AJ1 ‘Bred Toe’ from 2018. With the recent drop in the resell market and online prices, the 'market price' hovers around retail.

With A1 quality reminiscent of Shattered Backboards, only time will tell what the price ceiling will be for these in a few years once the market recovers. Were you able to cop a pair? Do you think they deserve to be on the list? What about the quality?

Union LA x Nike Dunk Low "Passport Pack" Retail $180 | Resell $300

Named the "Passport Pack," the Union LA x Nike Dunk Low pays homage to Union and its early days of hitting up major cities for the most elite streetwear and kicks. Retailing for $150 the Passport Pack kicked off the year with a bang! Specifically Inspired by New York, Los Angeles, and Tokyo the grid printed ripstop can be peeled back to reveal premium leather underneath. With so much attention to detail, each colorway deserves its respect.

Nike Dunk Low x "Jackie Robinson" Retail $130 | Resell $450

The Nike Dunk Low Jackie Robinson released in July of 2022 and retailed for $130. In 1948, Jackie Robinson broke the color barrier in baseball when he stepped onto the field for the Brooklyn Dodgers in his MLB debut. Nike honored the legacy of the iconic civil rights activist and baseball hero with the Nike Dunk Low Jackie Robinson.

The sneaker is covered in Jackie’s inspirational quotes, while his iconic #42 jersey number is located on the back heel. An additional unique details is the stitched laces and slightly off white color which resemble the stitching on a baseball. After they were released, they flew off the *hypothetical* shelves as expected and now they hover around $450 resell. Were you able to get your hands on a pair of these when they dropped?
